Arthur Hanson

Senior Fellow, International Institute for Sustainable Development Council Member, CCICED

Arthur Hanson is a Senior Fellow at the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), having served as the organization’s President and CEO from 1991-98. He was CCICED’s International Chief Advisor between 2002-2019.   

Hanson provides research and advisory services across sustainable development, biodiversity, and oceans.

Hanson holds a PhD in fisheries ecology and natural resources from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in zoology and fisheries from the University of British Columbia. He has an honorary doctorate of laws from Mount Allison University and is an officer of the Order of Canada.
