Dr. Art Hanson is an Distinguished Fellow with IISD following his term as President and CEO from 1991-98. He conducts research and provides advisory services on innovation for sustainable development, environment and economy relationships, biodiversity, oceans, and international development 

Dr. Hanson holds a PhD from the University of Michigan in the field of fisheries ecology and natural resources and a master’s degree in zoology/fisheries from the University of British Columbia. He has an honorary doctorate of laws from Mount Allison University and is an officer of the Order of Canada. 

He was CCICED International Chief Advisor from 2002 to 2019.
