\Iskandar Abdullaev is the former Deputy Director of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute. He holds a PhD degree from Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agriculture Mechanization Engineers.  

He has over 25 years of experience in water and environmental policy and management across Central Asia. He has previously worked at the International Water Management Institute (IWMI), the German Development Cooperation, and the Centre for Development studies (ZEF). Between 2013-2019, he was CAREC’s Executive Director for Central Asia.  

Abdullaev is also a member of International Water Resources Association (IWRA) and editorial boards of several international peer reviewed journals.
