Ms. Lucie Desforges assumed the position of Director General of Bilateral Affairs and Trade on July 24, 2017. She is a seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in the Canadian government.
From 2016 to 2017, Lucie was Director General of Women’s Program and Regional Operations at Status of Women Canada, responsible for the Government’s only funding program to advance gender equality in Canada.
Between 2013 and 2016, she served as Executive Director of Chemicals Management and Director, Chemical Production in Environmental Protection Branch. She was actively engaged in the successful international negotiations that led to the adoption of the Kigali Amendment for the phase-down of HFCs under the Montreal Protocol.
Previously, Lucie’s was Director of the Office of Consumer and Public Involvement at Health Canada from 2009 to 2013. She took on the additional responsibility of Executive Director of the Community of Federal Regulators.
