Zhang studied at Wuhan University and Renmin University of China, and later completed his post-doctoral research at Monash University, Australia. He has been a visiting researcher at the UN University Institute for World Development Economics. Zhang’s main research areas include development economics, climate change, green development, and reform of China’s economic system.
