2022 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED). Since its inception in 1992, CCICED has carried out hundreds of research projects involving leading Chinese and international experts cooperating on issues such as biodiversity conservation, climate, pollution abatement, green supply chains, and green finance.
CCICED has been working on several key aspects of the Kunming process for several years. Of note, recent CCICED Special Policy Studies and Scoping Studies include:
- Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Conservation;
- Green value chains, with a focus on sustainable sourcing of soft commodity chains to tackle deforestation, habitat loss and biodiversity loss;
- Ecological Compensation and Green Development in the Yangtze River Basin;
- Sustainable Oceans, and Conservation Finance.
The main purposes of this event are: (1) to facilitate the exchanges of research and expertise, especially in the context of severe challenges to sustainable development; (2) to share the successful experience and research outcomes of CCICED over the past 30 years and keep engaging broader stakeholders for inputs to ensure effective implementation of biodiversity and climate policy frameworks.
