This paper is the seventh report provided by the Chinese members of CCICED’s support group to its Chief Advisors. It provides description and brief analysis of legislation and policy development over the past year (November 2013 to October 2014) relevant to the CCICED policy proposals in 2013 and, in some cases, earlier years. During the past year, China has made significant progress in the legislative, judicial and law enforcement fields, such as strengthening the Environmental Protection Law (the revised law takes effect from January 2015), the establishment of the environmental resources tribunal in the Supreme People’s Court, and with considerable growth in the number of criminal cases related to environmental pollution, all of which indicate that there is an increasingly robust legal framework for ecological civilization in China.
