Accelerating Green Urbanization in China Based on Eco-Civilization

The city in the modern sense is based on the industrialization model formed after the industrial revolution. The agglomeration process of population and economic activities in the urban, i.e., urbanization, has greatly accelerated the process of industrialization. Human society has thus formed a modern social structure based on industrial civilization and the basic urban-rural economic geography of “urban-industry and rural agriculture”. The existing urbanization pattern formed in the traditional industrialization model needs to be reshaped on the basis of ecological civilization, so as to promote China’s economic transformation and high-quality development through green urbanization. This SPS aims to fundamentally investigate the internal mechanism behind the urbanization, and proposes a strategy and pathway based on ecological civilization to reshaping China’s urbanization.
